Stock transfers
A stock transfer moves goods from one warehouse to another, in the same branch or another branch. The goods leave when the transfer is saved, and arrive when the receiving warehouse accepts them.
Open Inventory›Transfers, or use + › Stock Transfer.
Send stock
- Click New, or convert an inventory request.
- Under From, choose the Source Branch and Source Warehouse. You need access to them.
- Under To, choose the Destination Branch and Destination Warehouse. It can't be the same warehouse.
- Set the Date and a Note.
- Add the items, or click Load All Available Items to list everything the source warehouse has (useful when emptying a warehouse). For batch items, choose the batches; the quantities picked must add up to the line's quantity.
- Save.
The goods leave the source warehouse at once, at their cost. Until they are accepted, they are in transit: in neither warehouse's stock.
Accept stock
- At the receiving warehouse, open Inventory›Accepts. Incoming transfers are also shown on the The dashboard under Transfers to accept.
- Select the transfer, check the goods against it, and click Accept Transfer.
The goods arrive exactly as they left: the same batches, quantities, cost and packing status. Accepting has its own right, so receiving staff can accept without being able to create or change transfers. They need access to the destination warehouse.
Between branches
When the warehouses are in different branches, each branch's books stay balanced through the Inter Branch Clearing account (see Default accounts): the sending branch's stock goes down against clearing, and the receiving branch's stock goes up against clearing when it accepts.
Cancel a transfer
A transfer that hasn't been accepted can be cancelled: the goods go back to the source warehouse. Once accepted, send them back with a new transfer.
Stock still Packing In Progress can only be sent to a packing warehouse. See Warehouses.
