Goods receipts

A goods receipt brings goods into your warehouse when they arrive before the vendor's bill. The stock is available at once, and the bill is matched to it later.

Open Purchases›Goods Receipts.

Receive goods

  1. Click New, or convert a purchase order (receipts made from an order are marked From PO).
  2. Choose the vendor, the branch and the receiving warehouse, and set the Receipt Date. Enter the vendor's delivery note number in Reference #.
  3. Enter the quantities that actually arrived, with their cost.
  4. For batch items, enter the batch number and the expiry date of each batch. If you leave the expiry empty, Fiscal uses the item's default expiry (see Items › Inventory).
  5. Click Save & Receive.

What it posts

The stock goes into the warehouse at the receipt's cost. The value is posted to the inventory account, against Goods Received Not Invoiced (see Default accounts). That account shows the goods you have but haven't been billed for yet.

Bill it

When the vendor's bill arrives, select the receipt and click Convert to Bill. The bill clears Goods Received Not Invoiced at the receipt's value. If the bill's price is different from the receipt's, only the difference is posted to the inventory, or to cost of goods sold for goods already sold.

A balance on Goods Received Not Invoiced at the end of the month means goods are waiting for their bills. Chase the vendors for them before you close the month.
