Inventory adjustments
An inventory adjustment corrects the quantity of items in a warehouse, up or down: opening stock, a recount, damaged goods. The value of the change is posted against an adjustment account.
Open Inventory›Adjustments, or use + › Inventory Adjustment.
Make an adjustment
- Click New. Choose the branch and the warehouse first: lines can only be added once the warehouse is chosen.
- Set the Date and the Reason: Opening Balance, Recount, Damage or Other.
- Leave the Adjustment Account empty to use the company's inventory adjustment account, or choose another one, for example Opening Balance Equity for opening stock (see Opening stock).
- Add the items. Each line shows the quantity in hand. Enter the new quantity, and Fiscal works out the difference.
- For stock that comes in, enter the rate (cost per unit). If you leave it empty, the stock comes in at the item's current average cost. Stock that goes out is costed by the item's costing method.
- For batch items, choose the batches that go down, or enter the batches that come in with their expiry dates.
- Click Post Adjustment, or Save as Draft.
Drafts, cancelling and printing
- A draft posts nothing. Edit it or click Delete Draft.
- A posted adjustment can't be edited. Click Cancel Adjustment: every stock movement is reversed exactly, and so is the journal.
- Count Sheet prints a sheet for counting a warehouse. To count and post the result in one go, use Stock counts.
