POS printing

Each branch runs one Print Agent on an always-on PC. It prints receipts, kitchen tickets and shift reports to the branch's printers, and opens the cash drawer.

Open Point of Sale›Printing. Work through the tabs from right to left the first time: Print Agents, Printers, Kitchen Stations, Kitchen Routing.

1. Install a Print Agent

  1. On the Print Agents tab, under Pair a Print Agent, choose the Branch and enter the PC name (for example Kitchen PC).
  2. Click Create setup key. Copy the key now: it is shown only once.
  3. Install the Fiscal Print Agent (ask Exler IT Hub support for the installer) on a Windows PC in the branch that stays on during opening hours, start it and paste the setup key.

The PC needs internet access and must reach the branch's printers. One agent per branch is enough. Unpair removes an agent, for example when the PC is replaced.

2. Add the printers

On Printers, add each printer with its branch and name, how it is Connected by (Network (IP address), port 9100 if none is given, or Windows printer (USB) by its exact Windows name on the agent PC), the Paper width (80 or 58 mm), and whether a Cash drawer is connected. Any ESC/POS thermal printer works. Each printer shows when it last worked, its last error and waiting jobs.

3. Kitchen stations and routing

  • On Kitchen Stations, add each station (Kitchen, Bar, Dessert) with its printer and number of copies. Several stations may share one printer. 0 copies keeps the station but prints nothing, for example while a kitchen display is used.
  • On Kitchen Routing, choose a branch and, for each POS group, the station it Prints at, or Not printed.

When an order is settled (Quick Service) or sent (Table Service), each item prints on its group's station with its modifiers and notes. Items without a POS group, or in a group set to Not printed, get no kitchen ticket.

Templates

Built-in layouts are used until you add your own. On Templates, create one per print type, start from the built-in layout, and edit the HTML. The page is the paper width (576 px at 80 mm, 384 px at 58 mm); use black on white. A field ending in Class is hide when its part is empty, for example <tr class="{{DiscountClass}}">. The preview shows it with sample data exactly as the printer receives it. You can use the company logo or your own.

The Print Queue lists recent print jobs with their printer, status and attempts. Use Print again when a printer was out of paper.
