Terminals, staff and pairing
A terminal is one selling point: a counter, a waiter's tablet, a delivery desk. Each has its own invoice series, warehouse, menus and printer, and the staff allowed to use it.
Create a terminal
Open Point of Sale›Terminals and click New.
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Code, Name | For example BARPOS, Bar counter. |
| Invoice prefix | The terminal's own invoice number series, so each terminal's receipts are numbered separately. |
| Branch, Sells from warehouse | Stock items and recipe ingredients are taken from this warehouse. Several terminals may share one. |
| Sections and screen menus | Turn on Quick Service, Table Service and Delivery as needed, with the screen menu for each, and which one it Opens in. |
| Takes payments | Turn off for waiter tablets that only take orders; payment is then taken at a counter. |
| Accounts | The Cash drawer account and the account per non-cash payment type. Leave them empty to use the POS settings and payment type accounts. |
| Printing | The Receipt printer (or none, to print through the browser), the default template and the number of copies. 0 copies prints nothing automatically, but the drawer still opens. |
| Staff allowed on this terminal | Only staff with access to the terminal's branch are listed. |
POS staff
Open Point of Sale›POS Staff. Each person who sells needs a PIN of 4 digits: it signs them in on the terminal and approves voids, discounts and refunds if their role has the manager right.
- Normal Fiscal users can also sell at the POS: give them a PIN here.
- POS only staff, such as cashiers and waiters, sign in on a paired terminal with their name and PIN and have no web login. They don't count towards your subscription's user limit.
- Choose the Role (a user group, which decides what they may do at the POS), their branches and the terminals they use.
Pair a device
- On the counter PC or tablet, open Fiscal and go to Point of Sale›Sell (POS screen).
- An administrator with the POS Setup right signs in on this device once.
- Choose the Terminal, give the device a name (for example Counter tablet 1), and click Pair.
From then on, the device opens the POS for that terminal, and staff sign in with their name and PIN. The terminal's Paired devices list shows each device, who paired it and when it was last seen.
