Delivery notes
A delivery note records goods leaving your warehouse for a customer before they are invoiced. The stock goes out when the delivery note is posted, and the invoice follows later.
Open Sales›Delivery Notes.
Create a delivery note
- Click New, or convert a sales order (only its undelivered quantities are copied).
- Choose the customer, the branch and the warehouse the goods leave from.
- Add the lines with the quantities delivered. For batch items, choose the batches (see Entering line items).
- Click Save & Deliver, or Save as Draft if the goods haven't left yet.
When it is delivered, the stock goes out of the warehouse and its cost is posted to cost of goods sold. Print it for the driver and for the customer to sign.
Invoice it
- Select the delivery note and click Convert to Invoice.
- The invoice opens with the delivered lines. Check the prices and save it.
The invoice shows that it is linked to the delivery note. Because the stock and batches were already recorded at delivery, the invoice only posts the sale and the VAT. You can invoice part of a delivery note, and the rest later. The Invoiced tab shows what has been invoiced so far.
Delivered goods that aren't invoiced yet are easy to forget. Check the delivery notes that aren't Invoiced regularly, for example at the end of each month.
Dispatch Center
If the Dispatch Center is on for delivery notes (see Preferences › Dispatch Center), the warehouse also marks the picking and dispatch of each delivery note there.
